Accessibility Statement for the Media Observer

The Media Observer is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We believe that every person has the right to live with dignity, equality, comfort, and independence. Our commitment to accessibility is an integral part of our mission to provide comprehensive support and information to persons with disabilities.

Accessibility Standard

Our digital content strives to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at the AA level. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user-friendly for everyone.

Known Limitations

We are aware of some areas on the website where we must improve accessibility. We are in the process of conducting an audit and making the necessary enhancements. These areas include:

  • Some older PDF documents may not be fully accessible.
  • Accessibility of third-party content or tools that are not fully under our control.

We are actively working to achieve a fully accessible website and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we make these improvements.

Measures to Ensure Accessibility

Our organization has undertaken the following measures to ensure accessibility:

  • Conducted website testing for keyboard-only navigation.
  • Performed screen reader testing using VoiceOver and NVDA to ensure compatibility.
  • Reviewed content to ensure it meets accessibility standards and is understandable for all users.

Testing Environments

Our website content has been tested in a variety of environments to ensure the highest level of accessibility. These environments include different operating systems such as Windows and macOS, and on devices including desktop computers, tablets, and smartphones.

Legal Framework

The Media Observer operates under the applicable national and local laws and policies concerning disability rights and digital accessibility. This includes Kenya Standard KS 2952-1-2:2022, which advocate for the inclusion and accessibility of persons with disabilities in the digital sphere.
