One of Kenyan’s [sic] longest serving presidents, Mzee Moi, as the country fondly called him, was loved and feared in equal measure (People Daily editorial, February 5, p.10). Ona huyu! Moi ruled Kenya for 24 years. Kenya has had four presidents since independence and no one came close to the length of Moi’s rule. How then do you write that Moi was “one of Kenya’s longest serving presidents?” He is the longest serving.

Their word was law unto itself. You cross their line at your own risk and peril (Standard, February 3, 4). Risk and peril mean the same. Why use both?

The DP said he will continue…(Standard, February 3, p.11). No, we will not continue this way.
Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro and his Bomachoge Chache counterpart Alfa Miruka said they would continue…Agh!
